Sulphur Stick – 8 Inch
Sulphur sticks are used for the sanitizing of barrels. Here is one way to use suplhur sticks in barrels. Hang a lighted sulfur stick in the barrel, placing the bung on very loosely. Pressure will build up with the burning of the sulfur stick and can blow out the bung. After about 5 minutes, remove the burnt sulfur stick and place bung in tightly. The burning of the sulfur stick uses up the oxygen in the barrel, killing bacteria and mold. NOTE: Do NOT burn a sulphur stick in a used spirits barrel, as the spirits in the wood can become explosive, leading to injury or death.
