Dark ruby in color with bramble compote aromatics, figs and prunes also with an undercurrent of liquorice and ginger. The palate is equally layered with a dark fruit an spice flavors. Tannins are already nicely interwoven within the concentrated mass of fruit giving a density of structure but elegantly avoiding any tannin overload or build up on the palate. The wine is completed with a long-lasting finish laced with maraschino cherry, dark chocolate and roasted coffee flavors. Lovely wine.
Jeb Dunnuck Review – Rated 92:
The 2021 Insoglio del Cinghale is rich with crushed lavender, purple plum, mocha, and black pepper and plush and compelling with its aromatics. Ful-bodied, it is ripe with dark black cherry fruit, turned earth, and a clean lift off the finish. There are well integrated tannins and has a pleasing mineral touch. The former wine director in me would jump on this as a fantastic wine by the glass option, as it casts a large net of appeal and checks a lot of boxes for the price.
