Winemaker’s Notes

On the nose, black fruits, Bing cherry, saddleback, gun flint, crushed rock and minerality. On the palate, black raspberry, elderberry, black licorice, rose petals, mocha, vanilla extract, with a rich and layered mouthfeel.

Blend: 95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Malbec, 2% Petit Verdot

Lots of blackberry and forest-floor aromas with pine needles and bark that follow through to a full body with a pretty framing of chewy yet medium-grained tannins and a flavorful finish. Fresh too. Try after 2025.
Wine Enthusiast Review – Rated 94:
A larger production offering blended with tiny amounts of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Merlot, aged 18 months in French oak, most of it one year old, this wine is earthy and thick. Tobacco, tar and grippy tannins round out a palate of rich black fruit and leathery texture.

Wine Spectator Review – Rated 93:
Offers good intensity and energy, with bramble-edged plum, blackberry and boysenberry compote flavors pumping through. The finish is scored by sweet tobacco and apple wood. Best from 2023 through 2034.
